Course Description:

This course, Quran Tajweed, has been especially composed for those students who want to get complete knowledge of the rules of Tajweed and then apply them to the Holy Quran. Full of comprehensive theory, it renders all exercises required in the right and beautiful recitation.

Course Objectives:

  1. To teach students why Tajweed is important and meaningful in reading the Quran.
  2. The objective is to help students understand the rules of Tajweed and their usage.
  3. This would help students to read the Quran properly, pronounce eloquently, and give the letters their proper sounds.
  4. Helping students practice the rules of Tajweed in reading the Holy Quran and various other verses correctly.
  5. A thing of wonder, by teaching, the beauty of reciting the Quran within every human heart.

Lesson Plan:

Module 1: Introduction to Tajweed

  • A realization of the need and significance of Tajweed in Quranic recitation.
  • A short background and development on Tajweed.
  • The relation of Tajweed to keeping the Quran intact.
  • The role of Tajweed in beautification and emphasis of recitation.

Module 2: Key Factors and Elements of Letters

  • A detailed look at makharij-the place of articulation of Arabic letters.
  • Knowing the properties of different letters.
  • Appropriate pronunciation and articulation exercises.
  • Practical application of articulation points and their characteristics while reciting.

Module 3: Rules and Techniques of Recitation

  • It means to study the principles of Tajweed: the rules concerning elongation. 
  • Recitation practice, observing the rules of Tajweed.
  • Common errors in recitation and how the worshipper can avoid them.
  • The techniques of voice modulation, rhythm, and fluency.

Module 4: Advanced Diacritical Tajweed Rules

  • Learn about advanced Tajweed rules, including those concerning Hamzah, Nunation (Tanween), and Meem Mushaddadah.
  • Learn the rules pertaining to Meem Sakinah and Noon Sakinah.
  • Practice exercises to read with advanced rules of Tajweed application.
  • Getting good at saying difficult verses and chapters.

Module 5: Explanation in Recitation

  • Tarteel: the art of beautifying recitation and its importance.
  • Art of euphony in voice modulation, sweet recitation.
  • Showing kinaarah emotions and knowing what the Quranic verses mean.
  • To develop your own style of recitation while maintaining adherence to Tajweed rules.

Module 6: Putting to Practice – Assessment

  • Memorization/practice sessions of recitation supported by the teacher.
  • Assessing students regarding their achievement and fluency in Tajweed recitation.
  • Giving feedback, ways of improvement.
  • Final test on mastering the rules of Tajweed.

Note: Learners are required to have basic proficiency in reading and reciting Arabic. It is recommended that a student should have gone through a Quran Foundation Course or has the same caliber in Quranic recitation.
